Wow. These take a short few mins to heat to max, which is very hot for very long, easily the purported 18 hr's. Activated and in one's pockets,they're a godsend during cold weather to keep one warm. They'll easily fit in a jeans back pocket (great for back and sciatic pain). I've also put one at the foot of my bed under covers to have toasty warm feet all night. They make a superior warming compress for sore muscles. Word to the wise: they are too hot to put against bare skin and even against thin material e.g. cotton pajamas. I thought they'd be too big, but now I think all lesser sizes are too small.
