people think the jon-e or zippo were the first platinum catalyst hand warmers, but these were invented and patented in japan in the 1920's, 20 years earlier than the first jon-e's. i have about a dozen of these types of hand warmers (most bought off of ebay to rebuild) and these are the very best. rebuilding old hand warmers comes close (look for youtube videos by 'mountain parameters' on how to do the rebuild), but these cannot be beat. these will get very warm (120°+) and can last at least 24 hours
